The gent who found the hole...
1 - considers that I have honor and integrity
2 - knows that I served last year as Chair of NomCom
3 - knows I have a technical background
4 - may know me better on a personal basis, better than most other Board Members
5 - knows I will do the right thing.

Perhaps there was nothing odd with his action at all?
