[rpd] IPv4 Inter RIR Resource Transfer (Comprehensive Scope)

Hi Haruna,
This is very easy to understand and consequently is not a false argument. The problem has been the time that we got allocated for the presentation and Q&A, I guess.
If I’m a person or company, trying to establish a new business (or increase the size of an existing one) in the region, and for that I need IPv4 addresses (or even to deploy IPv6 I need some IPv4 addresses as well), then I will come to AFRINIC, and that means that I can only get (at the current stage, phase 2, CPM 5.4.3.2), a maximum of 1.024 addresses.
If I need more than that, game over!
Now in a few months from now, AFRINIC will not be able to provide even those 1.024 addresses. So, the situation become even worst. What you do then?
It may become cheaper to establish your business in any other region, instead of AFRINIC.
Please, let me know if that clarify your point.
Tks!
I’m actually sure that the authors of the other proposals will agree also with my view on this!
Regards,
Jordi

One of the false arguments (in my opinion) made by the author of the IPv4 Inter-RIR Resource Transfers (Comprehensive Scope) proposal, is that new businesses are unable to get IP addresses, which is slowing down the growth of businesses in Africa.
If we can have statistics that supports this claim, it will be helpful, as I am not convinced that not having this policy is hindering IP assignments to businesses in our region. I am however not in support of this proposal in its current draft.
Regards,
Haruna.

Lets look at it from another point,
If it is the other region’s policy to be applied when the resources are transferred from that region,
it is then glaring that this could cause many confusions.
We don't need to support such.
Let's be guided.

As mentioned in the above points the resources poured into this new version
of the policy would most likely lead to a huge waste of resources, which
could and should be used at other policies and parts of the organization
Best Regards,
Precious Paul.

The members should already have abuse contact or other ways to work it out
if they really need it. So I think it is kind of redundant to have this
policy.

Hello
the current state of the RPKI infrastructure does not provide a sufficient? period between revocation of ROA and notification that a given prefix has been allocated to an organisation which can have a huge effect on the allocation, i therefore do not agree with this policy

Dear all,
?
I believe this policy would extendAFRINIC's power way beyond its control. AFRINIC is a registration entity andshould not have authority over RPKI. Having such would run the risk of Internetcentralization and undermine the legitimacy of AFRINIC as an impartialinstitution.
In addition, currently if there is a registration error, it is just aregistration error. However, if a registration error occurs with RPKI AS0,people will actually lose their connectivity.
For these reasons, I oppose this policy.
Best wishes,
?
