Hi Eddy,

I’m sure you have already considered that, but just in case.

>From a “formal” perspective, for both the AGMM and the PPM, if for any reason it is required to “host” a physical meeting (in addition to the remote participants), you can always “host” it at your offices. Maybe some locals+staff could participate from there if the Covid19 conditions allow that with “social distance”. Just to comply with legal formalities.

Regards,

Jordi

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for your feedback.

We are compiling the main ideas that were shared, and Madhvi will communicate with you on the main elements that were raised by the end of the week.

We will assess the feasibility of different options and will come back with a plan that will be submitted for Board approval next week. We will keep you informed.

However, I would like to address the question of whether or not we should have a meeting online. For compliance purposes, the AGMM needs to happen before the end of September. Besides, the Bylaws stipulates a minimum of 1 PDP per year. We, therefore, have no other choice but to hold our meeting online. Every time we have a meeting, the participants who can not travel always connect remotely, and it will, therefore, not be a brand new scenario. The novelty is about none of us being able to travel, and this is what we are aiming to address together.

Thanks for your understanding.

Kind regards,

Eddy

Chers Collegues,

Meilleures salutations,

Eddy

Subject: Co-Chair Election Process

Dear PDWG community members

The Public Policy Meeting will be on the agenda of the Africa Internet Summit 2020 (AIS-20) in September. One PDWG co-chair’s term (one year) will end during the Public Policy Meeting.

The election process for the PDWG co-chair (please see https://www.afrinic.net/policy/development-working-group#election for more details) says that voting shall be by a simple show of hands. However, this Public Policy meeting shall be held online.

We are therefore requesting feedback from the community on how AFRINIC can best proceed with the election to fill the vacant seat of one PDP co-chair. We shall be delighted to receive your proposals for this important matter and hope we can have a consensus within a week.

Regards,

Eddy

Cordialement,

Eddy
