Dear Working Group members,

The co-authors of the IPv4 Soft Landing-bis proposal thank the co-chairs for leading the last Public Policy Meeting during the AFRINIC-25 and for producing minutes of the meeting.

They extend their thanks to those who participated physically or remotely to the meeting. They also thank, the community and the PDWG members who believed in their effort in amending the current IPv4 Soft Landing policy to address some new perspectives which arose since its adoption in 2011.

The IPv4 Soft Landing-bis proposal was initiated in February this year, as the statistics and predictions have announced the IPv4 soft landing to be triggered between September and November 2016. The proposal has been through the PDP up to the last Public Policy Meeting which was held in Mauritius on the 29th November 2016.

As noted in the minutes, the co-authors of the IPv4 Soft Landing-bis proposal, during their presentation made an offer of collaboration to the co-authors of the competing policy proposal.

Our offer as made in the PDP meeting was about working together with the co-authors of the Soft Landing Overhaul to establish areas of contention and resolve them since there were many common areas. It was never agreed that withdrawal of the two proposals was a precondition to this.

Therefore, the co-authors of the Soft Landing-bis proposal reiterate our offer and stand committed to continue engaging the community and the other team under the auspices of the co-chairs for a positive outcome.

Thanks

The co-authors
