The WHOIS data is needed to contact a Registrant on;
1. Issues relating to Intellectual Property Rights
2. Maybe a domain is not in use and you want the domain, you may want to
negotiate with the domain owner.
3. Technical issues regarding the domain name
Where consultants register domains on behalf of a client, it can be a good
reference to check if the domain was registered in my name.
Also with regard to e-commerce, hiding your WHOIS data will raise a lot of
questions.
