Over $50 is probably a serious barrier.

Ah.. but you don't see the AnyCast Nameservers - there are something
like 43 of these around the world (3 in Africa) - we use
Autonimica/NetNode...
Other ZA domains also use ISC's Anycast (ZA uses NetNode and ISC - two
AnyCasts).
African ccTLD folk should probably be looking at AfriNIC for AnyCast
DNS. The CO.ZA zone is a touch on the large side... might be unfair.
Nothing wrong with local nameservers - I'd assume that that is where
most queries would come from.
