[AfrICANN-discuss] Internet regulation at national level?

Adiel,

I am not reassured. Not that it matters much.

I don't know Mauritius' legislation, or whether South African legislation applies but I do know that if I was a Director or Officer, I would make sure I knew.

In detail, because I really would not want my dong dinged... In either country.

By the way it illustrates nicely that all and sundry can clamor about governance and regulation just because they can issue a subscribe command to a mailing list, whereas existing legislation may be blissfully ignored perhaps, even out of the most laudable intentions.

greetings, el

The database might then become a valuable asset that a court may decide needs to be alienated as part of a legal settlement. Before making such lofty promises about "mission and research purposes," it will be a good idea to take a hard look at the legal issues involved in the jurisdictions where operations take place.
