[rpd] RPKI ROAs for Unallocated and Unassigned AFRINIC Address Space AFPUB-2019-GEN-006-DRAFT02

Hi Topsy,

This has been explained already by the staff, Mark and myself.

It takes 5 minutes and then a few hours depending on the systems of every operator, to make it visible.

However, in 99,99% of the cases, nobody uses *immediately* the allocated resources, it takes hours, days, weeks or even months, to start using them. So, I don’t think this is a valid objection.

In addition to that, the staff could if they decide to implement it in a way that already “frees” from the AS0 some blocks once the request of resources comes from members, even before they have completed the evaluation of the need.

Regards,

Jordi

Hello

the current state of the RPKI infrastructure does not provide a sufficient period between revocation of ROA and notification that a given prefix has been allocated to an organisation which can have a huge effect on the allocation, i therefore do not agree with this policy

Dear all,

I believe this policy would extend AFRINIC's power way beyond its control. AFRINIC is a registration entity and should not have authority over RPKI. Having such would run the risk of Internet centralization and undermine the legitimacy of AFRINIC as an impartial institution.

In addition, currently if there is a registration error, it is just a registration error. However, if a registration error occurs with RPKI AS0, people will actually lose their connectivity.

For these reasons, I oppose this policy.

Best wishes,

Ekaterina Kay Kalugina
