Hi Nasir,

You’re right, but I don’t see a problem with some times presenting 3 proposals (90 minutes instead of one hour), or we should also remember that for example the two Inter-RIR proposals are presented in a single slot.

Also, if we really get 13 policy proposals, some of them may come just 1-2 months before the meeting, so may be for those, there is no time already available for the webinar, etc.

This is not something that we need to fix “ahead” with 100% of the details. Each month you work on the plan for the webinar of the next 1-2 months, and so on.

What Abdulkarim is asking for (I believe), is that participants of the list suggest two different times frames good for them to attend, but I think this is adding complexity. Because the important thing is the authors can actually participate (otherwise you don’t have a webinar). So first, you need to accommodate the authors timing and if possible both co-chairs, but one is just enough.

Of course, I expect the co-authors to look for times that are coherent, in a way that possibly can accommodate participants. That’s why I offered my mornings, preferred mid-morning. I’m more or less about the same time zone as most of the African countries, so somehow very flexible to make them from 10AM to 13, or so, excluding weeks when I’m traveling.

Of course, if I’m an author, it doesn’t make sense that I suggest 17PM, 19PM, 2AM or 6AM because clearly there will not be good participation.

We have been doing this for about 2 years in LACNIC, and I think is very successful, so that’s why I suggested it, and this is the way we coordinate there. Co-chairs look for some proposals to be discussed in the next 2-3 months, talk to authors for possible availability, and then fix the time for each webinar so to present (2-3) the proposals, and it gets announced (1-2 next webinars). Following month, you look for coordination of the next 2-3 months again, etc. Sometimes we get 15-20 participants, some times more.

However, if you are expecting 13 proposals in the next meeting, the calls can accommodate only 10. 

Early scheduling for the call/proposals would be very important too. This will enable participants to adequately read the proposals and note some questions if ANY.

I dont really understand what you mean by " two timings"?

Recording too is very important and i hope the proceedings will be made available via the mailing list so that members who may possibly missed the call could actually follow the trend.

As author of several proposals, I think will prefer some time around mid-morning. I may not be available most of the time in the afternoons. However, some times I will be traveling and will not be possible also in some specific weeks.

However, because authors need to be present and there are several months ahead, I think it should be easy to coordinate, internally among co-chairs and authors to arrange the webinars each month for the following month, as the order in which they are presented across the months is not so relevant.

I will suggest that in each call we do two presentations, and the presentation time is only about 8-10 minutes, so as much time as possible is devoted to Q&A, suggestions from the community to improve the proposals, and so on.

This is not a change in the PDP. It may be possible as you said, to call for consensus, but I think that will be a too much extreme use of the ?variance? for all the proposals.

It is a ?value-added?, is not about taking decision, but to facilitate the community one more way to do Q&A with authors, and to allow the people to contribute during the webinars, authors can capture ideas or improvements, and if needed draft a new version. The consensus call is still in the meeting.

So, it must be monthly if we want to have it only for 1 hour for so many policy proposals. Otherwise will need several hours ?

...so you have decided to use your power of *Variance* (CPM section 3.6). Well done :-)

I like your attempting to revitalize this community, then i wish you to succeed on thy way.

I can suggest two things :

+ Every two (or three) months instead of one ;

+ Possibility to declare the consensus during those alternative meetings.

Please do also considere this call [1] for *Variance*, as we have demonstrated that something is really broken on the way the Impact Analysis Reports are providing by AFRINIC Staff. And we need your support to fix it quickly. I propose you to merge the two *Variance* projects.
