The nomination committee contacted the Afrinic elections committee to request the process document for the elections. The nomination committee was informed that there isn’t any documented process for the election of two PDWG co-chairs.

After reviewing the nominations, the nomination committee found that there only four candidates who submitted the required information before the endtime. The nomination committee was contacted by four other nominees as their names did not appear in the announcement which was sent to the RPD mailing list.

When did the nominating committee request the “required information” from the candidates and when was this “end time”?

The charge leveled by Abdulkarim is that the committee sent out a request from an undocumented email address during a muslim holiday on a Sunday requesting that the information be provided no later than Monday.

If that’s true, I’d argue that the timing of the request and the end time is quite suspect and not a legitimate process.

Despite the tight timeline offered, here is my feedback:

You are doing yourself no favors in this circumstance setting a similarly tight deadline for community feedback (approximately 17 hours).

Is this really what we can expect from the nominating committee? This is no way to conduct an election.

A candidate should be given at least 7 days to respond to an urgent request from the nominating committee. A request which should have been made at the beginning of the process should allow at least 30 days for a response.

Allowing less than 24 hours is absurd.
