[rpd] Code of Conduct enforcement

Dear PDWG member,

Your participation in AFRINIC-organized activities or discussions is
subject to a code of conduct which can be found at
https://www.afrinic.net/code

For your convenience, the contents are pasted at the end of this email.
Please remember to be civil and stay within the bounds of policy related
discussion.

In the past we have had to moderate posts of violators on a temporary basis
but this has generated added workload on co-chairs who have to vet all
posts from offenders before releasing them to the list.

Going forward, to make things run smoother, we will only issue a warning
(including a request to withdraw inappropriate statement, and apologize
publicly) on the first violation. A second violation (or refusal to
apologize and promptly withdraw the first inappropriate statement) will
lead to an immediate ban from the mailing list. The clock will not be
reset; Even if your second violation comes several months after your first
violation, a ban will still be applied.

We would rather have everyone speak freely but irresponsible and
inconsiderate speech on our list has got to stop. Because we are not glued
to the mailing lists round-the-clock, it is perfectly okay for a member to
notify co-chairs via email to pdwg at afrinic.net if you observe a violation
of the code of conduct.

If you believe you cannot comply with the published code of conduct or the
terms of participation, please feel free to leave. All messages are
archived and free for the public to view at
https://lists.afrinic.net/pipermail/rpd/

Thank you for your anticipated cooperation regarding this.
PDWG Co-Chairs

AFRINIC Community Code of Conduct

AFRINIC Meetings, Africa Internet Summit (AIS) Meetings and the AFRINIC
mailing lists are intended for information dissemination, discussion and
knowledge-share. The AFRINIC community is a collaborative environment in
which people from many different backgrounds and cultures work together for
the good of the African and global Internet. Those who participate in
AFRINIC and AIS Meetings, either in person or remotely, or on the AFRINIC
mailing lists are expected to behave professionally and respectfully at all
times. Harassment, intimidating or offensive behaviour will not be
tolerated.

We ask that all AFRINIC community participants:

   1. Treat others with politeness and respect.
   2. Avoid behaviour or remarks that give offence or discriminate based on
gender, sexual orientation, religion, race or ethnic origin, language, or
other perceived social, cultural, or personal differences.
   3. Personal attacks or otherwise defamatory or discriminatory comments
   will not be tolerated.
   4. If you disagree with somebody, please state your opinion calmly and
   politely.
   5. Respect the agenda: Please keep your remarks on-topic for the
   relevant part of the meeting.
   6. Respect the timekeeping: Please keep your remarks reasonably short,
and if the session leader closes the microphones before you have had chance
to speak, then please return to your seat.
   7. Respect language differences, translators, and remote participants:
Please speak slowly and clearly, and please use the microphones.
   8. Act in the best interests of the AFRINIC community at all times.

Inappropriate behaviour may lead to you being asked to leave the meeting or
to be unsubscribed from the mailing lists.

If you have any questions about expected behaviours at meetings or the code
of conduct, please contact <%3Ca%20href=>comms at afrinic.net
