Hi Sami,
Thank you and appreciated.
I just wanted to say though – I agree on minor offensive comments – I will also however say that there are also clear lines with regards to certain things. Blatant racism blunt references to imperialism that are meant to degrade entire segments of this community are not, and never will be “minor”
As you stated in your own message, we should celebrate our diversity and recognize the different cultures – and that clearly means not denigrating people for the color of their skin, their linguistic preferences, their geographic location or other factors which are entirely outside of their control.
It is a fact that is verifiable that people have walked away from this list because of the length of time it took to respond to the racial comments that were made – all I would ask is that in future – the chairs act on blunt and blatant racism with the harshness and swiftness it deserves – because anything else – we risk further divides in this community and more people who aren’t willing to come and speak their minds on the list directly – and instead choose to have others speak it for them by way of sending signed documents and appointing of people to speak – and we all know how that is received.
Andrew

Subject: [rpd] non-conformant posts to RPD
Dear Community,
We are following the recent discussions on the RPD list with caution to allow each and every one to express his/her views openly.
As we mentioned before, we are always trying to give the maximum flexibility to the community to utilize this resource, however, and considering the population of the list and the diverse background and culture of the participants, we do experience a few non-conformant posts from time to time.
The list moderators have the right and the means to immediately block any individual from posting, however we believe in building the maturity of the community by benefiting from people participating in the discussion. The easy way is to block individuals- but the most beneficial way is to build the community capacity toward engaging in constructive, healthy, and respectful discussion.
Before banning someone from participating we use all applicable ways by privately contacting the person who has violated the AFRINIC CoC and the norms we use on this list, and we try to lead the person to politely express his/her view.
We urge the community to tolerate minor offensive comments and try to not reply to those individuals in the same manner.
In light of the above, please note that messages from KANGAMUTIMA ZABIKA (funga.roho at yandex.com) to this mailing list have been moderated until further notice.
Sincerely,
PDWG Co-Chairs.
