Hi,

> The appellants no longer have the belief that this situation can be resolved in the absence of an official appeal – and emails sent requesting engagement within 48 hours have gone ignored and unanswered.
>
> The issue has been discussed with the requisite number of members as per section 5.2.(d) of the appeal committee terms of reference as indicated by the emails from:
>
> Owen De Long
> Saul Stein
> Andrew Alston
> Sander Steffann
> Mark Elkins

While I personally don't have a huge problem with the content of the SoftLanding BIS proposal (I am usually a proponent of soft landing, as can be seen from my work in the RIPE region) I do acknowledge the viewpoints from other community members and clearly see there is no consensus on this topic. Recognising and respecting that one's own viewpoints are not the only valid viewpoints, and accepting that some topics have such strongly differing viewpoints that consensus cannot be achieved, is an important part of consensus based policy making.

The PDP has been violated, and fairness in policy making is infinitely more important than my personal opinion. For the good of the community as a whole I therefore set aside my own viewpoints and will explicitly join in this appeal.

Sincerely,
Sander Steffann
