hi derrick,
that’s a good suggestion to the afrinic team!
that’s something that can be implemented without policy ie. as part of
the checks and balances process of adding new domain-objects to the
WHOIS (otherwise read as: implementation of existing policy).
*removal* of something, that’s already in WHOIS is trickier, as
there’s no policy to allow removal, and afrinic isn’t allowed to
delete objects, unless they are allocated/assigned to a member that is
no longer active (ie. closed member), or part of some protracted legal
process (and we arenot going there, because that’s not part of this
policy :-))
so what we’re trying to do here - in policy - is give afrinic the ok,
to go ahed and clean up. more than that, we’re also *telling* afrinic
that we, as a community, *want* to keep WHOIS clean, and this is how
they should deal with one aspect of records in WHOIS that aren’t
useful!
