The problem, I think, is that not enough people are willing to do this, and
will accept a second rate service for the sake of expediency (or, more
likely, simply don't see the issue).  That means, financially at any rate, my
foot-vote makes little difference.  So if you're going to do this, you need
to make sure that the ISP you're leaving knows exactly why.

Also this doesn't just apply to ISPs and hosting providers; it also applies
to hardware and software vendors too.
