a whole. The title of the presentation may seem new, however there is many
experience to pooling Network infrastructure.

Short biography : please se the attached file
Title of Presentation : IXPs in a Pool; more than localize African contents.

A detailed abstract or outline describing the presentation
*********************************************************************
Pooling network infrastructure was recently gained widely attention. The
impact of pooling is not just in the utilization of network devices
performance but also provide a good management framework to centralize the
operational and administrational tasks, which directly decrease the OPEX.
For instance, while the IXPs become familiar in many African countries,
and the benefit of locally interconnect the Internet providers is trivial
to be listed here, however, to take advantage of this proc, the maximum
number of service providers have to get connected. In our case, while the
local contents are very rare, collaborations is needed between the
continent countries in order to capitalize the benefits from IXP.
The concept of pooling IXPs is quit new; the concept is as simple as
interconnect the installed IXP in Africa, with some centralized control
from a consortium from the IXP administration under the AfriNIC umbrella.
In the presentation I will discuss the driven to have an IXP in a Pool in
Africa, and I will try to propose some technical and managerial framework.
