Dear Colleagues,

Just a reminder of the policy proposals currently under discussion in the
AfriNIC region:

*1. IPv4 Soft Landing Proposal*
This policy proposal presents a strategy for allocation and maintenance of
AfriNIC's final /8 block of IPv4 from IANA in order to ensure a smooth
transition to IPv6.

*Policy Proposal Text:*
http://www.afrinic.net/docs/policies/AFPUB-2010-v4-002.htm

*2. Abuse Contact Information in the AfriNIC Service Region*
This is a proposal to introduce a reference to a specific and dedicated
object which shall be used in future as the one and only place to publish
abuse contact information within the AfriNIC region. The mentioned object
can be referenced in the inetnum, inet6num and aut-num objects in the
AfriNIC Whois Database. It provides a more accurate and efficient way for
abuse reports to reach the correct network contact.

*Policy Proposal Text:*

*3. Global Policy for IPv4 Allocations by the IANA Post Exhaustion*
This is a global policy proposal to allow all IPv4 inventory regardless of
prefix size to be returned to, and subsequently reallocated fairly and
equitably by the IANA post-runout.

*Policy Proposal Text:*
http://www.afrinic.net/docs/policies/AFPUB-2010-v4-003.htm

The above proposals should be discussed during the AfriNIC-13 meeting to be
held in Johanessburg, South Africa, from 20th to 26th November 2010.

Kind Regards,

Vincent Ngundi
