Subject: [AfriNIC-rpd] incentive for AFPUB-2010-v4-001

Hi all,

During the Policy discussion, i promised to send text for the incentive of the policy.

The current incentive says :

"In order to ensure a smooth transition from IPv4 to IPv6, the lifespan of IPv4 can be increased in order to give network operators more time to make the transition. This document proposes a strategy for allocation and maintenance of AfriNIC's final /8 block of IPv4 from IANA."

I suggest the following:

"In order to ensure a smooth transition to IPv6, AfriNIC's pool should be managed to give old members as well as new members routable blocks after the IPv4 pool is depleted, in order to maintain and deploy IPv4 networks while deploying native IPv6 networks during a gradual transition to IPv6.

This document proposes a strategy for allocation and maintenance of AfriNIC's final /8 block of IPv4 from IANA."

hope this helps
