[AFRINIC-Announce] NRO-NC/ASO-AC Nomination process is now open

Dear colleagues,

The 2019 Nominations Committee is pleased to announce that the NRO-NC/ASO-AC Nomination process is open. One NRO-NC/ASO AC position is up for election by the AFRINIC community to serve a three-year term from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2022. The seat is currently held by Omo Oaiya.


Responsibilities

Under the ICANN ASO Memorandum of Understanding, the ASO AC’s responsibilities include:

1.     Undertaking a role in the global policy development process.

2.     Defining procedures for the selection of individuals to serve on other ICANN bodies, in particular on the ICANN Board, and implementing any roles assigned to the AC in such procedures. The ASO AC selects ICANN Board seats 9 and 10.

3.     Providing advice to the ICANN Board on number resource allocation policy, in conjunction with the RIRs.

 

Criteria and qualifications for eligibility

·       All nominations (including self-nominations) must be supported by a minimum of two AFRINIC community members; the two individuals must not work for the same organization.
·       No person shall be appointed as a member of the NRO-NC/ASO-AC if he or she is a person who:

                        i.         is under 18 years of age;

                       ii.          is an undischarged bankrupt;

                     iii.         is not a natural person; or

                      iv.         (iv) has been adjudged to have been of unsound mind

A nominee shall:

 

·       Be familiar with the AFRINIC Policy Development Process;
·       Have participated in at  any AFRINIC activity time
·       Be able to demonstrate that his/her activities are in the best interest of the African Internet Community.

 

 

General expectations

 

·      Be available and be committed to actively participate in  one teleconference every month, and possibly 3 in-person meetings every year (one ICANN meeting and 2 AFRINIC public policy meetings).
·       Provide feedback to the AFRINIC Community on the activities of the NRO-NC/ASO-AC.

The Closure of the Candidate Nomination period is 10th of May 2019 at 20:00 UTC.

Note: It is expected that the proposed candidates should be able to attend (in-person or remotely) the upcoming AFRINIC 30 Meeting, taking place in Kampala, Uganda on  20th June 2019 (election day), where they will have an opportunity to introduce themselves to members and make a short presentation. Le Comité des candidatures 2019 a le plaisir d'annoncer que le processus de nomination au NRO-NC / ASO-AC est ouvert. Un poste au NRO-NC / ASO AC sera vacant et la communauté d’AFRINIC doit élire un membre pour un mandat de trois ans du 1er janvier 2020 au 31 décembre 2022. Ce siège est actuellement occupé par Omo Oaiya. 

 

Responsabilités

 

En vertu du protocole d’accord de l’ ASO  de l’ICANN, les responsabilités de l’ASO AC sont les suivantes :

 

 1. Assumer un rôle dans le processus d’élaboration des politiques mondiales.

 2. Définir des procédures pour la sélection des personnes à siéger dans d'autres organes de l'ICANN, en particulier au sein du conseil d'administration de l'ICANN, et mettre en œuvre tous les rôles attribués à l'AC dans ces procédures. L’ASO AC choisit les sièges 9 et 10 du conseil d’administration de l’ICANN.

 3. Fournir des conseils au conseil d'administration de l'ICANN sur la politique d'allocation de ressources de numéros, conjointement avec les RIR. 

 

Critères et qualifications d'éligibilité

 

 • Toutes les nominations (y compris les auto-nominations) doivent être soutenues par au moins deux membres de la communauté AFRINIC; les deux individus ne doivent pas travailler pour la même organisation.
 • Aucune personne ne sera nommée membre du NRO-NC / ASO-AC si elle est une personne qui :

- est âgé de moins de 18 ans ;

- est un failli non libéré ;

- n'est pas une personne physique ; ou

- a été jugé pour n’avoir été sain d'esprit


Un candidat doit :

• Être familier avec le processus d’élaboration des politiques d’AFRINIC;

• Avoir participé à n'importe quelle heure d'activité AFRINIC

• Être capable de démontrer que ses activités sont dans le meilleur intérêt de la communauté Internet africaine  

 

Attentes générales


• Être disponible et s'engager à participer activement à une téléconférence chaque mois et éventuellement à trois réunions en personne chaque année (une réunion de l'ICANN et deux réunions de politique publique AFRINIC).

• Fournir un retour d'information à la communauté AFRINIC sur les activités du NRO-NC / ASO-AC.

Remarque ; les candidats proposés devraient pouvoir assister (en personne ou à distance) à la prochaine réunion d'AFRINIC 30, qui se tiendra à Kampala, en Ouganda, le 20 juin 2019 (jour du scrutin), où ils auront l'occasion de se présenter aux membres et faire une courte présentation.

• كن متاحًا وملتزمًا بالمشاركة الفعالة في مؤتمر واحد عن بُعد كل شهر ، وربما 3 اجتماعات شخصية كل عام (اجتماع ICANN واحد واجتماعان السياسة العامة AFRINIC).

• قدم ملاحظات إلى مجتمع AFRINIC حول أنشطة NRO-NC / ASO-AC.
