[AfriNIC-announce] Deadline for AfriNIC board election extended; Reminder for NRO seat

Dear colleagues,
   
   
   The deadline for nominations for the AfriNIC Board election expired on 1
    April 2007.  We are sorry to inform you that, in some cases, there
    are fewer nominations than there are available seats.  For this
    reason, the election committee has decided to extend the nomination
    period for all available seats.

    The extended nomination period will end at 12:00 UTC on 5 April
    2007.  See below for information about how to submit a nomination.
    Note that self-nominations are permitted.

    The following seats are to be filled by elections to be held during
    the AfriNIC-6 meeting in Abuja, Nigeria, on 2 and 3 May 2007:

AfriNIC Board seat 1 (for the North Africa sub-region),
currently occupied by Kamal Okba (primary) and Mokhtar Hamidi (alternate).

AfriNIC Board seat 2 (for the West Africa sub-region),
currently occupied by Pierre Dandjinou (primary) and Sunday Folayan
(alternate).

AfriNIC community-elected representative to the NRO-NC,
currently occupied by Ali Drissa Badiel.

    All seats are for a three-year term.  The term for the Board seats
    begins immediately after the election, and ends at a similar
    election in 2010.  The term for the NRO-NC seat begins on 1 January
    2008 and ends on 31 December 2010.

    In the case of the Board seats, each seat is occupied by two people
    (Primary and Alternate).

    The current occupants of these seats are not automatically placed
    on the candidate list for re-election.  In order for them to become
    candidates, they must be nominated.

Nominations should be sent to afrinic-ecom at afrinic.net using the template 
below. Self-nomination is allowed but it must be supported by at least two 
different people either from or outside the nominee's sub-region.
