Congrat, it's a real and strong achievement for all the african continent.
I'm really proud to see things moving according to the initial plan.
Good job . The African community will owe you this sacrifice.
Regards

Adiel
Congratulations on all the good work. Can we have an official press
release that we can have everyone distribute in their respective home
countries to make sure that this gets it's maximum exposure.
We need to get out of the techie community into the common language to make
it headline news.

Dear colleagues,
As announced a few days ago, with effect from February 22nd, AfriNIC is
moving a step ahead in its transition process.
We have effectively started PHASE II of the transition - operating as a full
RIR with a second opinion from other RIRs -
Consequently, our whois server is online and all resource requests must be
sent directly to hostmaster at afrinic.net.
You must use the various templates available at:
http://www.afrinic.net/documentation.htm#templates
At this point, we do not have something similar to the 'LIR portal' (RIPE
NCC) or 'MyAPNIC' (APNIC). All updates must be done through our e-mail
interface. Please find the necessary information under the Database and
Registration Services section of our web site (www.afrinic.net).
Further more, public information about registration in the AfriNIC service
region is now provided by whois.afrinic.net (port 43). You can query the
server using any regular whois client.
To have access to some advanced features, you may need to use the RIPE NCC
whois client which can be found at:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/whois/.
A web interface for whois queries will be online soon.
We will be happy to answer any questions from you regarding this process.
Please send your questions to transition at afrinic.net.
Kind regards.
Adiel A. Akplogan
CEO, AfriNIC
