Just to be pedantic, IP has been classless since 1994.

Discussions on this abound. Search NANOG and other such 
mailing lists, and you'll find various views.

General consensus is, use what you're comfortable with. But 
if you want to support SLAAC, you can only do that with a 
/64 subnet.
