Thank you very much Barack,
ART&P (the telecoms regulator) had initiated several round tables on the
management of .tg since 2006, in which ISOC Togo had participated to
represent CSOs. In 2012, the ART&P associated ISOC TOGO in the process of
redelegation of the ".tg" but ISOC did not sign the memorandum of
understanding which was intended to mark the approval and support of the
local Internet community for the process of redelegation of the ".tg"
domain. The reason we mentioned then was the fact that the regulator had
not given all the guarantees for a multi-stakeholder management of the
domain name. In 2016, a call for comments on the naming charter was
launched and ISOC Togo was consulted for this purpose. But that didn't
change the content of the charter. Now that the community is getting the
topic back on the table, we will try to compile best practices from other
countries in our region for a focused and collaborative advocacy strategy
for a charter review.
Thank you once again.
