This a great news! Especially for prospective registrars from Africa. Now that we have this barrier removed, I hope we will soon reach the number of 25 (MIG Works, Addis Ababa 2013) ICANN Accredited Registrars in Africa…

In case you haven’t seen the announcement yet, I just wanted to alert you that the Board waived the RAA insurance requirement , <https://www.icann.org/news/blog/icann-waives-registrar-insurance-requirement-levels-playing-field-for-registrars-globally> https://www.icann.org/news/blog/icann-waives-registrar-insurance-requirement-levels-playing-field-for-registrars-globally. This is being referred to the GNSO Council so there might be more work on this topic, but for the time being the insurance requirement is waived for all registrars.
