           TransformAfrica2013 concludes with The Smart Africa Manifesto  
The TransformAfrica2013 Summit with the theme "The Future Delivered. Today", took place in Kigali, Rwanda on 28-31 October, 2013. It was a Summit hosted by H. E. President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and co-hosted by the Secretary-General of International Telecommunications Union (ITU), Dr Hamadoun Toure. The Summit witnessed the participation of over 2000 delegates including the President of Kenya, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, the President of Uganda, H. E. Yoweri K. Museveni, the President of Burkina Faso, H. E. Blaise Compaore, the President of the Republic of Gabon, H. E. Ali Bongo Ondimba, the President of South Sudan, H. E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, the President of Mali, H. E. Ibrahim Bobacar Keita. Representation came from more than 50 African countries including Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Egypt, Burundi, Ethiopia, Namibia, Tunisia, the Gambia, Benin, Togo, Ivory Coast, Niger, and Mauritius. The AU, UNECA, the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO), ICANN, WorldBank and AfICTA among global leading organisations were in attendance.
 
The Summit concluded with The SmartAfrica Manifesto for implementation by all African governments with strong collaboration with the private sector, civil society and other stakeholders and its success is to be reviewed at the 2015 edition of the Summit in Kigali, Rwanda.

 Internet Domain Name Expansion Now Underway  
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) on October 23, 2013 announced that the first new generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs) from its New gTLD Program were delegated. This means they were introduced into the Internet's Root Zone, the central authoritative database for the Internet's Domain Name System.
As a result, the domain name Registries, the organizations approved to operate these and other soon-to-be-delegated gTLDs, can execute the final processes required to make their domain names available to Internet users.

It has become a daily occurrence for months now, making many a user receiving such strange calls that are normally answered without any response from the caller and hanging off automatically, but also the fact that such calls cause great inconvenience to the subscriber population.

 ICT Firms to Partner With SMEs in Tanzania SMALL and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have been asked to partner with ICT solutions firms to improve management in their entities.
Speaking to reporters in Dar es Salaam, Bluekey Software Solutions Managing Director Mala Bhatt, said SMEs could improve their operations by partnering with specialised firms.
She was unveiling Bluekey SAP Business One Cloud solution which has been tailor-made to satisfy multitudes of specific requirements that need to be met to ensure any company gains advantage by understanding markets better.

 Nigeria: NITDA Announces eNigeria 2013, Inaugurates Committee The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has confirmed that it would organise this year's technology conference and exhibition, tagged eNigeria Summit 2013.
The acting Director-General of the agency, Dr. Ashiru Daura, who confirmed it, has formally launched the activities towards the successful hosting of the 2013 edition of the NITDA's annual flagship programme, the eNigeria Summit.
While inaugurating the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the event in Abuja recently, Daura said eNigeria had been specially designed to address issues geared towards enhancing local content in the deployment of Information Technology (IT) in the Nigerian economy, adding that the outcome is expected to present a framework for adequately positioning Nigeria among the top leading IT economies across the globe.

NIC Argentina is set to host ICANN meeing from 17th-21st November 2013. NIC Argentina was created in 1987 under the Argentinean Chancellery's Computerization Project, which engaged the first network communication in the country.
>From that moment on, and under the supervisión of the Ministry of Foreign Relations and Cult, NIC Argentina worked to improve the interface, provide new services to the community, and set a regulatory frame for the registration of domain names. In 1998, the Internationalized Domain Name was implemented.
