if we revisited the way the Core group was formed in Prague no one Will dare say it was a self elected Group!!
>
>The problem was that not everyone that was in Prague was invited to the meeting to approve or object of any self -elected group. The complaint made by most on this list was that not everyone that went to Prague were invited to the "VIP list of people" and finally the selection should have been widely distributed in this group?
>
>And there was one out of the 2 African Reps currently on the Board at that same meeting which appointed the Initial Group of 4!
>
>This is now a new information and seem a rearguard explanation on the appointment, just like the meeting agenda communicated to us. I recall seeing the names of the 2 Board Members as part of the initial group that were selected and then they were no longer on the list. Does that mean they were also part of the self-selection? or they selected the 4 group, and the 4 selected them or vis-a-vis?
If what was said above was the case, why should a Board member appoint these group of 4? Is there some sort of bylaw on such appointment? Did they propose the Africa Strategy? Are we now going to make a case as to why African ICANN Board members selected 4 groups that are not representative of the community and if so, on what basis did the Board select them?
Please please, let us do things right the first time as Africans and also not further implicate others for the mistakes we have done. It does not matter who did what, if the process that is followed is flawed, who ever initiated it is implicated. I think we should simply agree a mistake was made and move on and we need not repeat it.
Thank you and kind regards,

>Your posting regarding composition of the ASWG shows at least one thing : we should all communicate better and also strive to stick to facts! For if we were all at the same Level of information, if we revisited the way the Core group was formed in Prague no one Will dare say it was a self elected Group!! And there was one out of the 2 African Reps currently on the Board at that same meeting which appointed the Initial Group of 4!

>It is therefore frustrating to hear that the sélection of membres of the ASWG has Become a vexing issue! But as you rightly pût it, the work has started and we should all feel concerned by the result!!
