[AfrICANN-discuss] Invitation to Applicants: Internet Society Ambassadors to the Internet Governance Forum (IGF)

Dear Dawit and colleagues:

I fully understand and support the objectives of the NGL programme.
However, there is a different issue present here; the ISOC
restrictions on Chapter participation in the IGF (among other fora)
are not appropriate:

The most important thing for the Internet Society in the IGF is that
current Chapter Leaders are able to be present and to speak and
represent the Internet Society on behalf of their Chapters and their
countries.

Existing arrangements have the result that ISOC is actually
represented by senior staff members who do not have the mandate to
speak for the Chapters in their domestic context.
Thus, this is not mainly about the NGL or the age restrictions. It is
about who speaks for the Internet Society in front of your governments
and other stakeholders in the IGF.

Regards

CW
