Hi McTim

How are you.  Have not seen you since on the dotAfrica Panel participation in Nairobi when DCA launched the Yes2dotafrica campaign back in Sept 2010.  I hope you are well.

Hello to all, as I have not posted in this list for long.

I am quite surprised that I am being informed that I am not subscribed on this list as I can view what everybody is posting.  As far as I know, I was subscribed since we started the group when I was in gNSO in 2005/6.  I even recall and have the self-congratulatory remark with those who implemented, as I insisted in a formal African grouping at the time like I said below.  Therefore, it is part of my African work at ICANN that I am proud of and would not want to unsubscribe!  I used to also be active on the list until the .africa issue made it impossible for me to interact.  However,  I see most of the listings when I have time.

But technology has since come a long way,  therefore, is it possible that one can see everyone's post as  a subscriber and prevent oneself from posting?  or are you saying there are two different subscriptions for one to view and one to post?  I appreciate your clarification on this!!.

Regarding your informing us "it is a UN moderated list", I did not understand what that means either; does the UN stand for United Nations?  if so,  must I think it is neutral of bias and respects individual rights? or is it to mean it is free of private sector self-interest intervention, or is it run by a group of governments which we should put our assets in trust?   The perceptions are so many nowadays;   I appreciate if you can also clarify what exactly a UN moderated email listing means?.

Now given whoever runs it, may I finally ask where the server of this "UN moderated" list is located?

Thank you so much for your help.

Sorry for the long email to the group.

With best wishes,
Sophia
