Internet : le Ghana, le Burkina Faso et le Togo relies par fibre optique d’ici fin 2010

Le Ghana va fournir au Burkina Faso un accès à la fibre optique pour les connexions internet haut débit pour un coût de 3 millions de dollars (environ 1,5 milliards de francs CFA). « La ligne ira de Bolgatanga au Ghana jusqu'à Sankansa au Burkina  et coûtera (...) 3 millions de dollars », rapporte le site officiel du gouvernement Togolais consulté par Ouestafnews..
Le point d'échange à Sankansa a été choisi car il est « stratégique » dans la mesure où il permettra également de connecter le Togo, explique la même source.
« Si nous sommes en mesure d'installer la fibre à Sankansa les trois pays bénéficieront alors d'une énorme capacité de débit pour leurs liaisons téléphoniques et internet », explique Edwin Alfred Provencal, directeur général de la National Communications Backbone Company (NCBC) cité par le site officel togolais. Selon le site d'information Ghana web, citant le même responsable de la NCBC, cette liaison se fera vers la fin de l'année prochaine. « Le délais de décembre 2010 peut être atteint », a notamment affirmé M. Provencal.
En dépit des progrès enregistrés dans le domaine des technologies de l'information, l'Afrique reste encore le continent qui compte le moins d'internautes et le où le taux de connectivité à Internet est le plus bas.
