Bonjour

Quelques informations. Il y a changement de lieux et de dates pour la 
réunion du FGI qui se tiendra en Inde. Elle aura lieu maintenant du 3 au 
6 décembre 2008, à Hyderabad, au lieu de New Dehli (voir dans la version 
anglaise ci-dessous des informations sur cette ville).

Actuellement  ont lieu à Genève la réunion publique sur le forum sur la 
gouvernance de l'internet et ensuite (26/27 fev) la réunion (fermée) du 
Comité Conseil du FGI. On peut lire les échanges de la première matinée 
de la réunion publique ici 
http://www.intgovforum.org/feb26/morning%20session26.feb..txt. Les 
transcriptions de la session de l'après-midi seront en ligne d'ici 
demain je crois sur http://www.intgovforum.org.

Les deux types de réunions permettent/permettront de discuter :

-         des modalités de renouvellement du Comité Conseil (un 
consensus qui semble se dégager suggère qu’un 1/3 des membres soit 
renouvelé) ;

-         du format de la réunion prochaine du FGI en Inde (beaucoup 
souhaitent qu’on ne se calque plus machinalement sur les quatre thèmes 
« access », « openness », « diversity » et « sécurité », mais que 
d’autres thèmes principaux soient identifiés et retenus)

-         beaucoup souhaitent avoir plus de résultats concrets pour le 
FGI, même s’il doit être d’abord un espace de discussions politiques, 
comme l’indique son mandat adopté à Tunis ; et même si des documents 
stratégiques ne seront pas négociés et adoptés.

An udpate on IGF (excerpts from a colleague's mail).

 "The Government of India is pleased to host the 2008 IGF meeting in 
Hyderabad from 3-6 December 2008. The Hyderabad International Convention 
Center (HICC) was chosen as the venue for the meeting.

 The HICC is a brand-new state of the art convention center with all the 
technological infrastructure necessary for hosting an Internet related 
meeting.

 There are plenty of affordable and adequate hotels, from four and five 
star hotel to clean and neat budget accommodation for USD 100 or less 
(most of them with free WiFi!). There are also serviced appartments and 
houses as an attractive alternative.

 Hyderabad is a fast growing IT center with all the major international 
companies implanted there (a growth rate of 50% a year in the IT sector) 
and therefore highly suited as a venue for the IGF. As our guiding theme 
is Internet Governance for Development, it is good to see that 
development in action in Hyderabad!"
