<p>Having reviewed what is written in the current election process
there are no margin for many ways that can be applied different
form what's in the PDP. We cannot just make up stuff that doesn't
exist in there even due of the exceptional situation we are
living.<br>
</p>
<p>As much as I support the AFPUB-2019-GEN-007-DRAFT01 which in my
view is by far the best way to elect the Chairs with electronic
votes and minimum time to be able to voted and be voted which is
pretty obvious, unfortunately it's still not a policy and cannot
be used yet. This situation shows the need of such a policy to
progress for one more reason.<br>
And it introduces a solution that doesn't exist today which is if
there is a Chair vacancy and a election process cannot be carried
out the Board may appoint a person to fill the vacant position
temporarily.<br>

<p>Therefore, the only solution I see in the <b>current</b> PDP is
stick to the 3.3 section of the text where is says: "Anyone
present at the meeting, whether in person <b>or by remote
participation</b>, may participate in the selection process for
a temporary Chair."<br>
Who can participate on this voting ? Those who are registered for
the meeting (in this opportunity online meeting).<br>
How can these registered people show their hands ? Through some <span
class="tlid-translation translation" lang="en"><span title=""
class="">auditable </span></span>system that guarantees that
only those people can vote.</p>
<p>Obs: On the URL
(<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://www.afrinic.net/policy/development-working-group#election">https://www.afrinic.net/policy/development-working-group#election</a>)
it says the person must reside within AFRINIC service region, but
this is not mentioned on any part of the CPM so I don't understand
that as valid currently.</p>

The Public Policy Meeting will be on the agenda of the
Africa Internet Summit 2020 (AIS-20) </span><span
lang="EN-US">in</span><span lang="en-RW"> September. One
PDWG co-chair’s term (one year) will end during the Public
Policy Meeting. <br>
<br>
The election process for the PDWG co-chair (please see <a
href="https://www.afrinic.net/policy/development-working-group#election"
moz-do-not-send="true">https://www.afrinic.net/policy/development-working-group#election</a>
for more details) says that voting shall be by a simple show
of hands. However, this Public Policy meeting shall be held
online.<br>

We are therefore requesting feedback from the community on
how AFRINIC can best proceed with the election to fill the
vacant seat of one PDP co-chair. We shall be delighted to
receive your proposals for this important matter</span><span
lang="EN-US"> and hope we can have a consensus within a

Sommet Africain de l'Internet 2020 (AIS-20) qui se tiendra

du PDWG (un an) prendra fin pendant la réunion de politique
publique.<br>
