Indeed, congratulations are in order for Abibu and Lucky for election to the AfriNIC Board.

It is my hope that, as you take up your seats on the Board, you will continue the drive
for more transparency and more accountability, issues that have been elevated in recent
weeks both at the Board level as well as at the community level, as witnessed in Tunis.

While the Board has a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), what I would like to observe is that

i. The NDA should not be used to deny (some) Board members access to information that
they need to make decisions on the Board
ii. The NDA should not be the major barrier it is now for the Board to hold much needed
consultations with other committees or bodies that are not consisted only of Board
members, as observed for CoE or NomCom
iii. The NDA should not be used as a basis for creating untruths within the Board such
as in deciding what should or should not appear in the minutes
iv. The NDA should not be used by the Board to lie to the community as has been
demonstrated in the chairmanship transition case

With the recent development that the Board will henceforth publish its (genuine)
minutes, a new look at or review of the NDA and its use may be needed.

So, good luck to the new Board members as you take up your seats on the AfriNIC Board,
we wish you well.

Regards,

Paulos
