Hi All,

One improvement suggested during the meeting is to have two separate committees for the elections:

1- Nomination Committee tasked to look for candidates and evaluate them with community inputs

Yes and all nominations should be done prior to election and any candidate that has passed this window should be deem fit to contest, there should be no reason why he/she be removed from contesting at the day of election. This will mean that before the election (say 1 month) the committee will have released their nominees and call for public comment. Any comment that comes in within this period should affect the conclusive report of the committee while any comment that comes after should not (apart from comment that has to do with withdrawal from the contestants OR other related issues but all this should come from the individual contestant not from the community)
2- Election Committee tasked to run the elections

Yes they should harvest the final output of the nomination committee(after the nomination committee release their conclusive report) and then publish it and start the election process. This is when the contestants can be asked question related to the seat they are contesting for....etc at this point it should not be allowed to disqualify an aspirant based on his qualification instead he/she should contest for the position and the community vote should disqualify the person. I felt bad when such happened in the last election and for me i think it can also be embarrassing to the aspirant (I don't have any special interest in the example i used)
This will be posted as comment for the bylaws review and i hope you will all post your comments before the end of the comment period which is june 8th 2012.

Thanks
