Hi Frank,

Please revisit the 29–31 August discussions under this same mailing-list
subject.

I was referring to Mike Burns’s agreement with Benson that the Board should
not select the nominating committee.

The subject line was retained, so the earlier exchange can be located in
the archive.

My point remains that independence requires more than changing who appoints
the committee. The Board should not retain indirect control through
discretionary funding or administrative support. Those arrangements should
be governed by member-approved rules, not Board discretion.
