As I see the Africa Tech Festival is on 17, 18 and 19th, so it means also a clash with the AFRINIC meeting, so even worst. You will be challenging participants to choose for one or the other. You want to guess which one may win? So if this dates have been chosen because that, it looks to me smarter to do it the *following* week not clashing with both the IETF and the Africa Tech …

While there is only a mandate (in the bylaws) of having one PPM per year, I’m clearly supportive of having 2, as all the other RIRs, no discussion on that, but you want to make sure that all the participants, and specially those that are presenting policy proposals can be there. In this case, you may have 3 or 4 policy proposals which no presenter at all.

I already considered the time zones, but this means if you’re attending most of the IETF sessions, as it is my case, not having sufficient time to get food, sleep, etc., and clearly it means you must choose or being too much tired to have an effective participation. Again, guess which one wins.

To me this is not a good sign. In fact is a very ugly one. I'll go further: it's the most despicable lack of respect towards the community and specially those that often contribute more, I've ever seen; absolutely unbelievable and unacceptable. This isn't the path we should expect from a new board, from a revamped AFRINIC. It doesn't matter whether avoiding conflict is a "contractual" obligation or not; it only demonstrates that the board doesn't want community participation and despises those who want to contribute.

I already give my time on the previous PPM, while previously I had committed to be in an European Commission 2 days meeting where I should have been participating (programmed much earlier than the AFRINIC meeting), so a second time in a row …. no way.
