Candidates to elections have duties and responsibilities, including making sure their candidature is in order.
Why encourage a candidate to deflect responsibility and blame misfortune ?

Regards.

Not to mention that it seems like we are restricting access to a limited number of people,

This is a mischaractirization. The secretariat posted 6 application submission and 2 of them through an open and transparent process turned out to be invalid while 4 applications were valid.

What restrictions are you talking about?.

which is unfair and goes against the principle of openness and inclusiveness.

Dont be dishonest by using talking points of "openness", "inclusiveness" and "unfairness".

The process has been very open and inclusive otherwise the invalid applications would not have landed on this WG mailing list.

The process has been very fair with only the 2 nominations being found to be invalid out of the 6 applications.

The WG was given a timeline for nomination. Both Widjane and Antony applications were submitted for nominations within the specified deadline. Where is the unfairness you are talking about?

Both of their nominator did not approve of the nomination or the motivation for their candidacy.

A nominator must be someone known to a nominee and not a proxy or broker. The nominators didnt even have a clue. There were also conditions about a resource member as a seconder in the application form.

Both didn't have seconder in their applications submitted before the deadline. Even when Wollner attempted to nominate both, their submissions that came after the deadline as posts on rpd list also lacked seconder.

I mean one of the valid nominees has since declined their nomination and thanked their nominator.

Let us be honest as a self organized WG instead of some members always making incorrect claims even when the truth is before their own face.

In fact the co-chairs role in terms of selection of volunteers should continue to be as transparent as possible going forward.
