Cher PDWG

 

Nous sommes dans une situation sans précédent. Le Secrétariat et le Conseil
d'administration s'engagent à trouver la meilleure façon possible afin
d'aider le PDWG à se remettre sur les rails le plus rapidement possible.

 

Dans le but d'apporter un soutien supplémentaire au groupe de travail,
l'AFRINIC a décidé d'augmenter le soutien apporté au PDWG en nommant par le
biais d'une équipe de liaison  qui sera désormais composée de deux
représentants :

- Mme Madhvi Gokool (spécialiste principale des ressources en matière de
PI),

- et M. Brice Abba (Responsable du développement communautaire).

 

Cet arrangement assurera la résilience et renforcera la capacité d'AFRINIC à
gérer le soutien dont le PDWG et le PDP ont besoin. Cette équipe travaillera
également sur des activités axées sur la création d'une communauté avertie
en matière de processus d'élaboration des politiques d'AFRINIC.  

 

Le PDWG peut attendre d'AFRINIC les éléments suivants dans son rôle de
secrétariat :  

 

i) L'AFRINIC continuera à agir en tant que facilitateur et partagera la
liste amendée des critères basée sur les dernières contributions reçues.

ii) Une fois les critères d'éligibilité approuvés, le Secrétariat d'AFRINIC
ouvrira l'appel à intérêt pour la nomination des co-présidents remplaçants
du PDWG.

iii) L'AFRINIC contactera NOMCOM2021 et demandera son soutien pour
l'évaluation des candidats.

 

Les nouveaux délais ci-dessus seront communiqués dans le courant de la
journée.

 

Nous avons pris note des demandes du groupe de travail d'inclure les
nouveaux venus dans le PDWG en tant que candidats à la coprésidence.
L'équipe de liaison politique élaborera donc un programme d'accueil pour les
nouveaux arrivants, veuillez surveiller cet espace.

Il est normal qu'au sein d'une communauté aussi diverse, nous ayons des
divergences d'opinions et je vous invite à rester conformes au code de
conduite, même en l'absence de coprésidents. Nous avons tous, volontaires et
employés, besoin d'un environnement sûr, car nous investissons notre temps
et nos efforts dans la mise en place d'interactions harmonieuses et
propices. Nous avons remarqué quelques déviations et nous apprécierions que
nous restions calmes et concentrés sur notre objectif commun.

Dear PDWG,

 

We are in an unprecedented situation. AFRINIC, in its role as secretariat to
the PDWG, is committed to finding the best possible way to assist the PDWG
in getting back on track the soonest.

 

In an attempt to bring additional support to the Working Group, AFRINIC has
decided to increase the support provided to the PDWG by appointing a  Policy
Liaison Team, which will now be composed of both:
- Mrs. Madhvi Gokool (Senior IP Resource Specialist),
- Mr. Brice Abba (Community Development Manager).

 

This arrangement will ensure resiliency and reinforce AFRINIC’s capacity to
handle the support that the PDWG and PDP require. 

This team will also be working on activities focused on building an informed
community in the matters of the AFRINIC Policy Development Process.  

 

The PDWG can expect the following from AFRINIC in its role as secretariat:  

 

i) AFRINIC will continue to act as a facilitator and share the amended list
of criteria based on the latest inputs;

ii) Once the eligibility criteria are approved, AFRINIC will open the  call
for Interest for the appointment of the replacing PDWG Co-Chairs;

iii) AFRINIC will contact NOMCOM2021 and seek their support in the
evaluation of the nominees. 

 

The new timelines for the above will be shared shortly later today.

 

We have also noted the Working Group’s requests for including new entrants
in the PDWG as co-chair aspirants. 

The Policy Liaison Team will thus craft an onboarding program for newcomers,
so please watch this space.

 

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

 

It is expected that within such a diverse community, we have a divergence of
opinions, and I urge you to stay compliant with the Code of Conduct even in
the absence of Co-Chairs. 

We all, volunteers and staff alike, need a safe environment as we invest our
time and efforts towards building smooth and conducive interactions. 

We have noticed a few deviations and would appreciate that we stay calm and
focused towards our common goal.
