[rpd] Abuse Contact Policy

That will be in an ideal world, but is not.

See the figures presented today by the staff:

Out of 1857 members, only 28 have abuse records. And this doesn’t mean that they are “valid” (because aren’t verified as there is not a policy for that).

Further to that, they summarized this table per resource type:

Object             Counts in DB               abuse-c

Inetnum          139.268                       232

Inet6num         31.230                       33

Aut-num             1.915                       32

Do you think that shows that without a policy it works?

What alternative do you suggest? Should we close all the members except only 28 that are up-to-date?

Regards,

Jordi

The members should already have abuse contact or other ways to work it out if they really need it. So I think it is kind of redundant to have this policy.

As mentioned in the above points the resources poured into this new version of the policy would most likely lead to a huge waste of resources, which could and should be used at other policies and parts of the organization

Dear all,

I have some concerns about the “Abuse Contact Policy”.

First of all, it does not offer a specific and regulated description of the term “abuse” and this opens the door to potentially bigger problems: a surplus of reports, discrimination/legal issues, and a waste of resources. Around the world, we can perceive what abuse is in very different ways.

Afrinic is not entitled to force members to report abuses and most importantly, this proposal does not represent Afrinic’s purpose.

I, therefore, oppose this policy.

Thank you,

Lucilla
