[afrinic-resource-policy-discuss] Volunteers for AfriNIC 2007 Elections

Dear Colleagues,

This year, two seats (with their alternates) will be vacant on
the AfriNIC board. They are:

a) Seat 1: for the North African sub-region (Primary and Alternate)
     Mandate: 2007 to 2010

b) Seat 2: The West Africa sub-region (Primary and Alternate)
     Mandate: 2007 to 2010

The Elections for the above seats will be held in Abuja, Nigeria on
the 3rd of May 2007.

Election will also be held at the same for one representative in the
Name Council of the NRO (According to point 7 of the NRO MoU). The
elected person shall also act as one of the ASO Address Council (ICANN
ASO MoU) representative for AfriNIC region.

The open seat for our region is:

Seat 2: for three years term (January 2008 to December 2010)

AfriNIC would like to call for volunteers to sit on the Election
Committee (2 Members). The role of the Election Committee (Ecom) is
to oversee the election process by ensuring that it is conducted in
a smooth and efficient manner.

Any person interested in forming part of the Ecom should inform us
before 21st of Feb 2007.

The Time Frames for the election will be as follows:

o - Announcement of Election Committee Members - 3 March 2007
o - Opening of the Candidacy/Nomination Period - 3 March 2007
o - Closing of Nomination Period - 18 March 2007
o - Review of nomination, contacting nominees for more details - 18 March 2007
o - Official Announcement of Candidate by Election Committee &
     Opening of Public Comments - 23 March 2007
o - Close of Public Comments - 25 April 2007
o - Election Day and Election Results- 3 May 2007
