Abstract:
In this talk, I will survey some of the lessons that we have learned from more than a decade of designing and deploying Internet speed tests in the United States and abroad.  I will also discuss the limitations of existing client-based speed tests, and challenges on the horizon as Internet access speeds are becoming increasingly faster.

Bio:
Nick Feamster is the Neubauer Professor of Computer Science and Director of the Center for Data and Computation at the University of Chicago. His research focuses on many aspects of computer networking and networked systems, with a focus on network operations, network security, and censorship-resistant communication systems.
