[Icann-aswg] VP Africa

Dear all,

Icann has just extended to me an offer to become its VP for Africa !

I wanted you to be the first ones to know, as many of you advised me to go
for it while in Toronto. Also, I see this as a collective responsibility
that we should all share.

While the VP position within ICANN is part of the overall outreach and
internationalization agenda, Africa is now  poised to  benefit from an
action plan which could moove the continent closer to the real Internet
industry and business.

CEO Fadi Chehade is thrilled as to what could all achieve for our community
and ICANN and his expectations are high! Tarek is in the same mood and
stands ready to assist.

Thus, I would like to rely on you all in coming weeks and months when we
will have to 1) finalise the strategy plan; 2) retain those projects that
could lead to quick gains, by next ICANN meeting in Beijin and 3) organize
an Africa programme management team for the implementation of the three
year plan.

I thus look forward to a continuous and fruitful collaboration.
