We should consider the following:

1. allowing both self nominations and nominations by third parties. 
Nominations by third parties will require confirmation from the 
nominated person.

2. to strengthen the nomination committee to actually vett and reject 
nominations received on their suitability for directorship. At the 
moment it seems anybody is accepted as long as they are properly 
nominated and seconded.

3. a very clear and comprehensive criteria for directorship must be 
developed to assist in the evaluation of nominations.

4. the secretariat must play an active role in compiling the evaluation 
documentation against set criteria to enable the committee to make a 
decision

5. to allow the members the option to indicate their preference between 
the candidates for either primary or alternate seat on the ballot

6. canvassing for proxies must be disallowed

7.  there should be no limit on the number of proxies anyone can hold as 
without canvassing the power to give a proxy rest with the member giving it

8. to come up with an election code to guide candidates on acceptable 
methods of canvassing and to provide such platforms such as mailing 
lists, blogs, web posts etc

9. the e-voting must have two mutually exclusive options of either 
voting or appointing a proxy so that once a  member ticks one option the 
other is automatically shut
