Hi Anthony,

You just need to put a NIC-HANDLE which is AAG6-AFRINIC and not a name in the WHOIS contact.

Regards,

Hi Anthony,

You actually have to do it.

Connect to https://my.afrinic.net
navigate to Resources->Reverse Delegation
Select your IP Range, click on the + sign
Add your reverse delegation.

If you are having any trouble, please contact hostmaster at afrinic.net

Hope it helped.

Yes you need to add the following on AFRINIC database

RDNS: 215.10.196.in-addr.arpa
NS: ns0.ukfast.net
NS: support.ukfast.co.uk

This information is correct

Hello Anthony,

You are mixing 2 things here:

1. You need to have a PTR record for your mail server, this should be added by UKFAST
2. You need to add a RDNS record on MyAFRINIC for your IP Range, from the information you gave us, I believe this should go in MyAFRINIC:

RDNS: 215.10.196.in-addr.arpa
NS: ns0.ukfast.net
NS: support.ukfast.co.uk

Thanks,
Amreesh

Hello Amreesh
Can you pls explain the mail below to me from RIPE database
Dear Anthony,

Thank you for your email.

It's not possible to create reverse DNS with an IP range that is from
outside the RIPE Region. If you want to create Reverse DNS you need
to create this in the Afrinic Database.

Have a nice day

Anthony,

The issue is not the mail server, it is the reverse DNS record which needs to be handled by UKFAST.

mail servers requires reverse DNS to work (PTR record), reverse DNS is handled by those hosting the domain

Hello Anthony,

No.

Reverse zone: 215.10.196.in-addr.arpa
Domain name servers: your domain name server 1
your domain name server 2

Note: your domain name server is not “ quantumgroupgh.com ”

It seems that those two name servers are serving quantumgroupgh.com

ns0.ukfast.net
support.ukfast.co.uk

They should be configured to serve your reverse DNS as well. You need to contact
their administrator.

*Once done, then you can input the entry on MyAFRINIC:

Reverse zone: 215.10.196.in-addr.arpa
Domain name servers: ns0.ukfast.net
support.ukfast.co.uk

*ONLY IF ns0.ukfast.net and support.ukfast.co.uk ARE SERVING YOUR REVERSE ENTRIES.
example of a reverse entry would be:

10.215.10.196.in-addr.arpa. 50389 IN PTR mail.quantumgroupgh.com .

Please contact hostmaster at afrinic.net for more questions.

Hi Anthony,

>From an AFRINIC perspective, you need to add a reverse DNS entry for the
196.10.215.0/24 prefix.

eg.

215.10.196.in-addr.arpa NS ns1.example.org
NS ns2.example.org

where those name servers would be the authoritative name servers of this reverse domain.

Then, on your side, you would be adding PTR records for mail.quantumgroupgh.com
10.215.10.196.in-addr.arpa PTR mail.quantumgroupgh.com

To add a reverse dns entry in MyAFRINIC, log in to https://my.afrinic.net- >Resources->Reverse Delegation->select prefix->click on + sign to add entry.

Hope that helps.
