Le vol des adresses IPv4 est devenu un problème de plus en plus urgent au cours de la dernière décennie parce que ces adresses IP omniprésentes sont en réalité une ressource finie. Further to our earlier communique issued on 16 December 2019 on the alleged theft of AFRINIC?s IP number resources, we wish to further apprise our members and the community as follows:<br>
<br>
? The Mauritius Police Force has initiated an investigation into the matter and AFRINIC is fully supporting the latter in their investigations.<br>
? AFRINIC acknowledges that the consequences of the aforesaid IP number resources thefts will undoubtedly have international ramifications. As such, all needful will be done to collaborate with relevant foreign law enforcement agencies when so required.<br>
? AFRINIC has a zero tolerance policy for misconduct and it is pursuing its internal control to establish whether there may be other undetected similar cases. If so, appropriate actions will be taken and those found culpable will be held to account.<br>
? In regard to identified cases of IP number resources thefts, actions have been initiated to recover the resources and the process of updating our WHOIS database is also ongoing.<br>

Finally, AFRINIC assures both its members and the community that appropriate action will be taken to protect the interests of the company and its resources. AFRINIC will continue to update you on the above matters.<br>

1. La police mauricienne a ouvert une enqu?te sur cette affaire et l'AFRINIC soutient pleinement ces derniers dans leurs investigations. <br>
2. L'AFRINIC reconna?t que les cons?quences des vols de ressources IP susmentionn?s auront sans aucun doute des ramifications internationales. A ce titre, tout ce qui est n?cessaire sera fait pour collaborer avec les services r?pressifs concern?s ? l'?tranger lorsque cela s'av?rera n?cessaire.<br>
3. L'AFRINIC applique une politique de tol?rance z?ro en mati?re d'inconduite et poursuit son contr?le interne afin de d?terminer s'il peut y avoir d'autres cas similaires non d?tect?s. Dans l'affirmative, des mesures appropri?es seront prises et les personnes jug?es coupables seront tenues de rendre des comptes.<br>
4. En ce qui concerne les cas de vols de ressources IP identifi?s, des actions ont ?t? engag?es pour r?cup?rer les ressources et le processus de mise ? jour de notre base de donn?es WHOIS est ?galement en cours.<br>

Further to our call of Interest from persons wishing to be considered for appointment to the Board for the seat for Eastern Africa (Seat 6) issued on 17 December 2019, we would like to inform you that the Board of Directors has decided to keep the seat vacant until the next election to be held at the Annual General Members' Meeting 2020 in Kinshasa, DRC.<br>
Unfortunately, none of the shortlisted candidates received the requisite support from AFRINIC resource members in good standing. This was one of the key requirements for the appointment to the Board. The Call for Expression of Interest expressly stated that candidates were required to provide a reference of two AFRINIC resource members in good standing supporting their expression of interest. It also stated that a member in good standing cannot support more than one candidate irrespective of the region.<br>

We wish to sincerely thank those who had expressed their interest to serve on the Board.<br>
