Memorandum of Understanding with the Commonwealth
Telecommunications

The African Network Information Centre
(AfriNIC) and the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation
(CTO) have
signed a memorandum of understanding on the 24<sup>th</sup> August
2011,
at the <b>Hyatt Regency </b><strong><span style="font-family:
"Cambria","serif";"><b>Kilimanjaro Hotel</b>
</span></strong>in Dar es
Salaam, Tanzania, during the 6<sup>th</sup> Connecting Rural
Africa Forum. The
MoU has been signed by Mr. Adiel Akplogan, CEO of AfriNIC and Dr.
Ekwow
Spio-Garbrah, CEO of the CTO.<br>
<span style="">The MoU
establishes a general framework for bilateral cooperation
between AfriNIC and the
CTO with the aim of improving collaboration on various actions
towards
promoting ICTs and its role in development through joint
research, training and
capacity building on matters of high importance, such as IPv6. </span><br>
<br>
<span style="">This initiative
has been concretized in line with the common aims and goals of
AfriNIC and the CTO
considering the benefits that may accrue to their stakeholders
as a result of
the synergies realized through this collaboration<i style="">. <span
style="color: black;">“I believe this to be a watershed
moment
when two entities, both engaged in the promotion of ICTs for
broader development,
come together to cement an alliance with the aim of
delivering greater value to
their common stakeholders. The CTO very much looks forward
to working with
AfriNIC to build the capacity to leverage the innovations in
the internet by a
