With the Internet Governance Forum 2009, rapidly approaching us, we would like

Open Source” (Workshop #90) is scheduled to take place on 17 Nov 2009,
1.5 hours, 1430-1600.<o:p></o:p></p>

<b>Concise Description: <br>
</b><br>
The workshop aims to create awareness on open source application/technology and
how this can be used to reduce the financial burden on an organisation’s
IT infrastructure, especially with the challenges that have been brought about
by the global financial crisis. <br>
<br>
<b>Speakers will:</b> <br>
<br>
1. Define open source software, its background and how it is managed; <br>
2. Bring out the difference between open source software and proprietary
software; <br>
3. Show alternate solution to proprietary software using open source. This will
cover each critical aspect of a common organization IT infrastructure; <br>
4. Show a cost-benefit analysis of open source and proprietary software; and, <br>
5. Give case studies of open source software deployments. <br>
