[AFRINIC-Announce] Constitution of the AFRINIC Governance Committee

Dear colleagues,

As part of its support and oversight responsibilities, the AFRINIC Governance Committee provides its expertise and strategic guidance to the Board of Directors, organization members, and the broader Internet community on all governance-related matters.

In accordance with its Terms of Reference (https://afrinic.net/governance-committee), the committee is composed of:

  Three (3) members elected by the AFRINIC Membership;
  Two (2) members appointed by the AFRINIC Board of Directors;
  One (1) AFRINIC Board member appointed as a non-voting liaison;
  The AFRINIC Legal Adviser as a non-voting member; and
  One or more representatives from the AFRINIC Secretariat as non-voting members.

 
The AFRINIC Board started the reconstitution process with the election of three members elected by the AFRINIC Membership  at the AFRINIC Annual General Members Meeting (AGMM 2026) held in Nairobi, Kenya. 
 
The Board then conducted the next stage inviting volunteers from the AFRINIC community to be considered for appointment as the two (2) Board-appointed members of the Governance Committee. 

Following the conclusion of this process, the AFRINIC Board is pleased to announce the constitution of the AFRINIC Governance Committee as follows:
Elected by the AFRINIC Membership

Mr Daniel Khauka Nanghaka — until 31 December 2029
Ms Afaf El Maayati — until 31 December 2028
Dr Maud Adjeley Ashong Elliot — until 31 December 2027

Appointed by the Board

Ms Phumzile Madonsela — until 31 December 2027
Mr Eddy Lareine — until 31 December 2028

Board Liaison

Mr Laurent Ntumba — until 31 December 2027

Mr B. Radhakissoon serves as Legal Adviser to the Governance Committee and Mrs Guylaine Laiyra as Secretary to the Governance Committee

AFRINIC extends its appreciation to all the volunteers who have contributed to this process, and welcomes the incoming members of the Governance Committee. The Committee will now proceed with its work in accordance with its mandate.

Chers Membres de la Communauté,

Dans le cadre de ses missions d'accompagnement et de suivi, le Comité de Gouvernance d'AFRINIC apporte son expertise et ses orientations stratégiques au Conseil d'administration, aux membres de l'organisation ainsi qu'à l'ensemble de la communauté Internet sur toutes les questions relatives à la gouvernance.

Conformément à son mandat (https://afrinic.net/governance-committee), il est composé comme suit :

Trois (3) membres élus par les Membres d'AFRINIC ;
Deux (2) membres nommés par le Conseil d'administration d'AFRINIC ;
Un (1) membre du Conseil d'administration d'AFRINIC désigné comme agent de liaison, sans droit de vote ;
Le Conseiller juridique d'AFRINIC, en qualité de membre sans droit de vote ; et
Un ou plusieurs représentants du Secrétariat d'AFRINIC, en qualité de membres sans droit de vote.

Le Conseil d'administration d'AFRINIC a engagé le processus de reconstitution par l'élection des trois membres élus par les Membres d'AFRINIC, lors de l'Assemblée Générale Annuelle des Membres d'AFRINIC (AGMM2026) tenue à Nairobi, au Kenya.

Le Conseil d'administration a ensuite mené l'étape suivante en invitant les volontaires de la communauté AFRINIC à se porter candidats en vue de leur nomination en tant que deux (2) membres du Comité de Gouvernance nommés par le Conseil d'administration.

À l'issue de ce processus, le Conseil d'administration d'AFRINIC a le plaisir d'annoncer la composition officielle du Comité de Gouvernance d'AFRINIC :
