Dear colleagues,
AFRINIC is one of two RIRs with IPv4 addresses in its available pool—819,968, to be specific. Of course, this is grossly inadequate to meet Africa’s current IP address needs, making IPv6 the only sustainable way to continue growing the Internet's potential in Africa.
That’s why, in 2018, after training over 6,000 engineers from 50 countries, we designed and organised the world’s first Deployathon to shorten the time between learning about IPv6 and actually implementing it.
In 2020, we redesigned the event and organised it entirely online. As a result, 46 organisations from 23 countries were able to accomplish 88 deployment KPIs, including:
- 25 validated route6 objects
- 20 validated RPKI ROA objects
- 15 address plans in IPAMS
- 12 advertised IPv6 prefixes
- 3 IPv6-enabled DNS
- 2 IPv6 traffic from test VLAN
- 1 DNSSEC IPv6-signed reverse zone
- 1 IPv6-enabled website
- 1 IPv6-enabled email
- 1 network with IPv6 user traffic
If selected, you will get the same step-by-step guidance, tools, and techniques we’ve perfected in 10 (e-)Deployathons and over 500 helpdesk calls—to help you move your IPv6 deployment one clearly measurable step forward, all in full accordance with your network change management processes.
Event Details:
- Dates: 11 November 2025 to 26 November 2025
- Live Sessions: Every Tuesday and Wednesday (2 per week, interactive and hands-on)
- Time: 4 hours per session
- Location: Zoom (but we promise it will be fun!)
- Eligibility: Qualified network engineers from any country in Africa
If you are an engineer running a network and believe you can make one concrete, visible step toward IPv6 deployment (or advance your stalled IPv6 deployment), we encourage you to apply!
**Only 35 spots available—secure your place today!**
Deadline for application: 3 November 2025
