Africa Internet Summit (AIS) Secretariat announces AfNOG’s program at The
Africa
Internet Summit 2016 scheduled to be held in Gaborone, BOTSWANA from 29th May
to
10th June 2016.
AIS is the pinnacle multi-stakeholder event combining, workshops, conferences
and networking for the internet Industry. The annual summit attracts
internationally renowned Instructors, Experts and Speakers to share the latest
innovations and Best practices in the Internet industry. This is the place
where
the African Technical Institutions and Af* such as AfNOG, AFRINIC, AfREN,
AfricaCERT, AfTLD - AROC, ISOC Africa, AfrICANN, AfGWG etc meet.
Meeting the needs of the Africa Internet Community
AIS aims at meeting the ever-changing needs of the ICT Industry and includes
the

About AfNOG
AfNOG is a forum for cooperation and the exchange of technical information
between operators of Internet-connected networks in Africa. AfNOG aims at
building a community of engineers helping each other operate Internet
Infrastructure in Africa, and on the Global Internet as well as promote the
discussion of issues relating to implementation of new networks that require
community cooperation.
AfNOG has since year 2000 organized their annual Event in a different African
country each year.
“While AfNOG fuels the rapid growth of the Internet in Africa with trained
technical capacity, our content has been determined by the needs of the
community. In so doing AfNOG’s output training capacity has multiplied in the
past decade and the community flourished”
AfNOG Workshop on Network Technology
The AfNOG Workshop on Network Technology aims to offer advanced training to
people who are in the process of developing and enhancing an Internet-connected
network with regional and international connectivity. The target audience
includes senior and mid-level technical staff of commercial Internet service
providers (ISPs), academic networks, government networks, or NGO networks.
This workshop builds on the experience of previous AfNOG workshops held
annually
from 2000 to 2015 in sixteen different African countries, and also the Internet
Society's INET workshops, held annually from 1993 to 2000 at eight locations
around the world. The workshop's Instructors are an international team with
many
years of experience in operating large networks and teaching about network
operations.
The workshop is divided into Six parallel tracks: ( 5 English & 1 French
Tracks)
•SS-E Scalable Internet Services (in English), focused on the design and
operation of email, web, and other Internet services, in ways that can scale to
handle large numbers of end users.
•SI-E - Scalable Network Infrastructure (in English), focused on the design and
operation of networks using routers and switches, in ways that can scale to
handle large numbers of interconnected sites.
•NM – E, Network Monitoring & Management (English)
•NM-F, Network Monitoring & Management (en francais), similar to track NM-E,
but given in French.
•AR –E, Advanced Routing Techniques (English)
•CT- E, CERT Training (English)

About AFRINIC

African community by providing professional and efficient management of
Internet
Number Resources, supporting Internet technology usage and development, and
promoting a participative and multi-stakeholder approach to Internet self
governance.
AFRINIC is a non-government, not-for-profit, membership based organization,
based in Mauritius. Trainings and capacity building are a central part of

AfricaCERT
AfricaCERT will hold a 6 day Workshop & Tutorial on CERT from 30th May – 4th
June 2016 in Botswana. AfricaCERT is the African forum of computer incident
response teams, and aims to propose solutions to Challenges for a better health
in the Af* Internet Ecosystem.
The objectives of AfricaCERT include, but are not restricted to :
•Assisting African countries in establishing CSIRTs;
•Strengthening the relationships amongst CSIRTs in Africa and with other
stakeholders all over the World;
•Fostering and supporting education and outreach programs in ICT Security;
•Encouraging information sharing in ICT Security;
•Promoting good practices and experiences sharing among members to develop a
comprehensive framework for cybersecurity including better addressing of legal
and regulatory issues;
•Assisting African CSIRTS in improving Cyber readiness and enhancing the
resilience of ICT Infrastructure;
•Promoting Collaborative Technology Research, Development and Innovation in the
ICT security field.

AfTLD – AROC Workshop & Meeting
Africa Top Level Domains Organization will be conducting an Advanced Registry
Operators Course (AROC) from 30th May to 3rd June 2016.
The Advanced Registry Operations Course is a 5 day (40 Hour) Course tailored
for
operators looking to build robust operations moving forward into advanced
installation and configuration topics.
This course focuses on demonstrating a structured approach to network
monitoring
and management including further risk management plans. The course is
highlighted by hands-on exercises to installation and configuration components.
Topics in this course include but are not limited to architecture, monitoring
tools and scripting.
ISOC AFRICA
ISOC Africa will be holding sessions/tutorials on Internet Governance, etc. on
5th June 2016. Further information will be provided shortly.
AfNOG Tutorials
AfNOG will offer 1 to 2 full-day(s) tutorials on advanced topics.
Tutorials take place in a classroom-style environment, and may include a
hands-on practical component. Tutorials are non-commercial in nature, and most
are technically oriented. They are intended to offer advanced training on
technology already deployed or soon to be deployed on networking and related
services provisioning for ISP operations.

AfREN
The Africa Research and Education Networking (AfREN) will be holding a one
day
meeting on 6th June 2016.
AfREN is the annual forum on African research and education networking. As one
of the Af* organizations, the AfREN forum is part of the annual Africa Internet
Summit (AIS) and was convened since 2007 by the Research and Education
Networking Unit (RENU) of the Association of African Universities in
collaboration with AfNOG & AFRINIC.
The forum is a platform for discussions on issues of interest to the research
and education networking (REN) community such as collaboration, advocacy and
coordination of activities in Africa. Sharing of experience and best practices
as well as presentation of innovative networking technologies are also
regularly
addressed at AfREN.
The sponsorship of campus network managers to attend the annual AfNOG training
workshops has also become an integral part of AfREN.
Since 2012, with the formation of regional RENs covering all the countries of
Africa, there is a traditional session on updates from the UbuntuNet Alliance
(Eastern and Southern Africa), WACREN (West and Central Africa) and ASREN (Arab
countries, including North Africa).
Typical AfREN participants include among others, campus and research and
education network practitioners, REN operators, telecom operators, regulators,
policy makers and international partners.

AfNOG-17 Meeting
The 17th AfNOG meeting will be held in Gaborone, Botswana on 6th June 2016.
AfNOG conferences provide a forum for the coordination and dissemination of
technical information related to backbone/enterprise networking technologies
and
operational practices. The meetings are informal, with an emphasis on relevance
to current and future African backbone engineering practices. The AfNOG 2016
conference in Tunisia drew over 500 participants, mainly consisting of network
engineering staff from lnternet Service providers, Telecommunication Companies,
Government, Research and Education community, Civil Society. Additional

AFRINIC-24 Public Policy Meeting
The AFRINIC-24 Public Policy meeting will be held in Gaborone, Botswanaia for
three days from 8th to 10th June, 2016. AFRINIC Meetings are open to everyone
and provide an excellent opportunity to take part in Internet policy
discussions. These policies, which describe how Internet Number Resources
should
be managed and distributed, are developed by the community. The meeting will
include tutorials, presentations, update on the various working groups and the
AFRINIC Public Policy Meeting. The three day meeting will be preceded by a
two-day IPv6 training and one day training in Internet Number Resource
Management. The meeting will focus on the IPv6 protocol and its deployment,
especially in Africa and the issue of the exhaustion of the IPv4 pool of
address
space.

Atelier AfNOG sur les technologies de réseau
L'atelier AfNOG sur les technologies réseaux vise à offrir une formation
avancée
aux personnes qui sont dans le processus de mise en place et l'optimisation
d'un
réseau connecté à Internet avec connectivité régionale et internationale. Le
public visé comprend le personnel technique de haut niveau et de niveau
intermédiaire de fournisseurs commerciaux de services Internet (FSI), les
réseaux universitaires, réseaux gouvernementaux, ou des réseaux d’ONG.
Cet atelier s'appuie sur l'expérience des ateliers AFNOG précédents tenus
chaque
année de 2000 à 2015 dans quinze pays africains différents, et aussi des
ateliers INET de l'Internet Society, a lieu chaque année de 1993 à 2000 dans
huit endroits dans le monde. Les instructeurs de l'atelier sont une équipe
internationale avec de nombreuses années d'expérience dans l'exploitation de
grands réseaux et de l'enseignement sur l'exploitation de réseau.
L'atelier est divisé en six Sessions parallèles: (5 Anglais et 1 Français)
•SS-E Services Internet Evollutive (Scalable en anglais), porte sur la
conception et le fonctionnement des services de courrier électronique, le Web

À Propos d’AfriNIC
AfriNIC (Voir ) AfriNIC a été mis en place pour servir la communauté africaine

AfricaCERT
AfricaCERT tiendra une série de formation pour les équipes de réponse aux
incidents de sécurité et des tutoriels sur 6 jours du 30 mai au 4 Juin 2016 à
Botswana.
AfricaCERT est le forum africain des équipes d'intervention en cas d'incident
informatique, et a pour objectif de proposer des solutions aux défis pour une
meilleure santé dans le Af * écosystème Internet. Les objectifs de AfricaCERT
comprennent, mais ne sont pas limités à:
•Aider les pays africains à établir CSIRT;
•Renforcer les relations entre les CERT en Afrique et avec d'autres parties
prenantes partout dans le monde;
•Favoriser et soutenir des programmes d'éducation et de sensibilisation à la
sécurité des TIC;
•Encourager le partage dans la sécurité des TIC informations;
•Promouvoir les bonnes pratiques et l'échange d'expériences entre les membres
pour élaborer un cadre global pour la cybersécurité, y compris de mieux
répondre
juridique et les questions de réglementation;
•Aider les CSIRT africains à améliorer Cyber préparation et le renforcement de
la résilience des Infrastructure des TIC;

AfTLD - AROC Atelier & Réunion
AfTLD tiendra un atelier sur les Operations de Registre Avancées pour ccTLD du
30 Mai au 03 Juin 2016.
L'atelier AROC représente cinq journées (40h) techniques sur les Operations de
Registre Avancés. Ce cours porte sur la démonstration d'une approche structurée
de la gestion et supervision de réseau, y compris les plans de gestion de
risque. Le cours est mis en évidence par des exercices pratiques d’installation
et de configuration d’outils. Ce cours comprends mais ne se limite pas a de
l’architecture réseau, outils de supervisions, écriture de scripts.
ISOC AFRIQUE
Le bureau Afrique de Internet Society organise des sessions / tutoriaux sur la
gouvernance de l’Internet etc.. le 05 Juin 2016. Plus de détails seront

AfNOG Tutoriels
AfNOG offrira 1 à 2 journées complet (es) des tutoriels avancés. Les Tutoriaux
auront lieu dans un environnement de type salle de classe, et peuvent inclure

AfREN
Le réseau de la recherche et de l'éducation en Afrique (AfREN) organisera une
réunion d'une journée le 1er Juin 2016.
AfREN est un forum annuel sur la recherche et les réseaux de l'éducation en
Afrique. Etant une des organisations Af *, le forum AfREN fait partie du Sommet
Internet Afrique et a été convoquée depuis 2007 par l'Unité de Recherche et de
mise en Réseau de l'Education (RENU) de l'Association des Universités
Africaines, en collaboration avec AfNOG & AFRINIC.
Le forum est une plate-forme pour les discussions sur les questions présentant
un intérêt pour la Recherche et le Réseau de l’Education (REN) comme la
collaboration, la sensibilisation et la coordination des activités en Afrique.
Partage des expériences et de bonnes pratiques ainsi que la présentation des
technologies de réseaux innovants sont également régulièrement abordée lors des
reunions AfREN.
Le parrainage des gestionnaires de réseau de campus pour assister aux ateliers
annuels de formation AFNOG est également devenu une partie intégrante d’AfREN.
Depuis 2012, avec la formation de REN régionaux couvrant tous les pays
d'Afrique, une séance traditionnelle des mises à jour de l'UbuntuNet Alliance
(Afrique orientale et australe), WACREN (Afrique occidentale et centrale) et

AfNOG - 17 Conférence
La 17éme Conférence AfNOG aura lieu à TGaborone, Botswana le 06 Juin 2016. Les
conférences AfNOG sont un forum pour la coordination et la diffusion des
informations techniques et pratiques relatives aux technologies réseaux ;
architecture, cœur de réseau, entreprise. Les réunions sont informelles, avec
un
accent sur la pertinence des pratiques de backbones africains actuels et
futurs.
La conférence AfNOG 2015 à Tunis a drainée plus de 500 participants, constitués
essentiellement de personnel d'ingénierie de réseaux de fournisseurs de
services
lnternet, les Compagnies de télécommunications, Gouvernement, la communauté de
la Recherche et de l'éducation, la Société civile. Des informations

AfriNIC-24 Conférence
La réunion AfriNIC-24 sera organisée à Gaborone, Botswana, sur trois jours à
partir du 8 - 10 Juin 2016. Les réunions AfriNIC sont ouverts à tous et offrent
une excellente occasion de prendre part à des discussions relative a la gestion
des ressources Internet. Les règles de Gestions décrivent comment les
Ressources
de numéros Internet devraient être géré et distribué, sont développés par la
communauté. La réunion comprendra des tutoriels, des présentations, mise à jour
sur des différents groupes de travail et la réunion de publique d'AfriNIC. La
réunion de trois jours sera précédée par une formation IPv6 sur trois jours et
une journée de formation à la Gestion des Ressources. La réunion portera sur le
protocole IPv6 et son déploiement, notamment en Afrique et la question de
l'épuisement du pool IPv4 de l'espace d'adressage.
