[AfriNIC-announce] REMINDER: WAIGF 2009 - Accra/ Ghana

Dear Colleagues,

AfriNIC wishes to remind you that the 2nd Annual West Africa Internet
Governance (WAIGF) event will take place in Accra, Ghana, 14-16 October 2009
at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, hosted by the Ghana Ministry of
Communications. 

The objective of this workshop is similar to the Internet Governance
Workshop Organised by AfriNIC and held in Dakar, Senegal, Oct '08 with a
focus on establishing an on-going relationship and partnership with the
National Regulatory Authorities, governments, policy makers, as well as with
other local, regional, and international organizations that are also tasked
with Internet development mandates in the region.

This event is also a part of a broader Internet Governance initiative that
we are establishing with stakeholders and is also referred to as the WAIGF
initiative which will be used as a formal preparatory forum to improve West
Africa's contribution to the global Internet Governance Forum, scheduled to
take place in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt 15-18 November 2009,

This same initiative has taken form in other regions such as East Africa
with the EAIGF, held in Nairobi, Kenya, 7-9 September 2009.
